Psychological Support Unit

During assisted reproduction treatments, couples may experience distress, frustration, and uncertainty. Through the support of a specialist from our Psychological Support Unit, we provide comprehensive care aimed at maintaining and promoting emotional well-being.

Why is Psychology important in Assisted Reproduction treatments?

When a couple or woman decides to expand their family and go in search of pregnancy, it is common for them to imagine that this pregnancy will be achieved in the short term. It may happen that, in some people, that period of time between the decision to become parents and finally achieving pregnancy can take months or even years. Likewise, this delay in complying with family planning can generate discomfort and emotional imbalances.

In this way, our Psychological Support Unit seeks to generate a space of trust with each of our patients so that they feel comfortable, free to vent, and that they can talk about their concerns, from the simplest to the most complex.

Couples often have to face situations to which they are not accustomed, so it is important that a professional provides them with the necessary tools, for example to communicate the pregnancy to family members, manage social pressure and frustration that can generate negative results.

What services does the Psychological Support Unit provide?

Through this Unit we provide tools to improve and promote the emotional balance of future parents. In detail, the service consists of four sessions that can be individual and/or for couples, the topics that are usually discussed are:

  • Tips on How to Relieve Anxiety While Waiting for Results
  • Advice on critical moments that may arise throughout the treatment
  • Containment and prevention in response to study results
  • Psychological treatment for patients who request it due to symptoms or clinical history

The objectives of the sessions will vary according to each patient, but in general they are related to:

  • Increase emotional expression and communication
  • Improve life as a couple, quality of life and psychological well-being
  • Reduce negative feelings and beliefs that generate hopelessness.
  • Control anxiety and stress

How do I request psychological advice?

If you want to use the services offered by the Psychological Support Unit, contact our center by phone to coordinate an appointment. We also recommend that you tell your WeFIV treating doctor about your feelings so that he or she can make the appropriate referral.

From our team we consider that assisted reproduction treatments generate an emotional impact on couples that can affect the result of the treatment itself. By providing psychological counseling services, available during each stage of the procedure, we seek the well-being of

our patients, in order to reduce any interference that may hinder the main objective: achieving a healthy pregnancy. By reducing stress, anxiety and emotional imbalance, we help the number of conceptions increase.
