Dr. Chaquiriand studied Medicine at the Universidad de la República (UdelaR) in Montevideo, Uruguay, obtaining her Medical degree in 2001. She completed her Residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Hospital Pereira Rossell in Montevideo, earning her Specialist degree in Gynecology and Obstetrics in 2005. In 2004 and 2005, she pursued a Master’s in Human Reproduction from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid and IVI Madrid. She has also completed multiple internships in France and has been associated with CHU Nice since 2011.

She works in Uruguay at numerous institutions (COSEM, Hospital de Clínicas, Hospital Policial, Hospital Pereira Rossell, SUMMUM, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Medicare, MP (Personalized Medicine)).
Dr. Chaquiriand is a member of the Latin American Network of Assisted Reproduction (RedLara), the Spanish Society of Fertility (SEF), the Collège National des Gynécologues et Obstétriciens Français (CNGOF), the Society of Gynecotocology of Uruguay, and the Society of Human Reproduction of Uruguay (SURH), where she has been part of the Board of Directors for over 10 years.
She served as a Clinic Chief (Grade 2) of Gynecological Clinic at the Hospital de Clínicas in Montevideo from 2007 to 2010, overseeing the Fertility Service of Clinica Ginecotocologica “B” at the Hospital de Clínicas.
From 2012 to 2020, she was an Associate Professor of Gynecology, remaining in charge of the Fertility Service as well as undergraduate and postgraduate Gynecology teaching and other related specialties.
Currently an Honorary Professor, she is responsible for the Fertility area at the Hospital de Clínicas.
She has been a speaker at multiple courses, national and international conferences, and continuing education courses on Assisted Reproduction.
Dr. Virginia Chaquiriand is the author of scientific papers that have been presented at conferences.
